Sewanee Men’s Basketball Partner with TeamIMPACT

The Sewanee Men’s Basketball team is off to an exciting start this season. Beginning back in November, the Tiger’s rode a three game winning streak into Christmas break. Having a 10-5 record currently, the Tiger’s are scheduled to play 10 more games before their SAA Conference. Winning games, however, is not all this team has on their agenda this season. On November 12th, the Tiger’s partnered with Team IMPACT which is an organization that pairs “... children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country.” Team IMPACT recruit, Angler, was paired with the Men’s Basketball program when he signed a National Letter of Intent to join the 2024-25 team roster. TeamIMPACT’s mission is to, “...guide children and teams alike in a mutually beneficial relationship of belonging, empowerment, and resilience.” This represents an amazing partnership that both the players and coaches are very excited about. Tre Corrigan C’25 spoke to us more about TeamIMPACT saying,

“Signing day is always a big day for athletes when they are committing to a school. Our team got introduced to Angler 2 months ago at the beginning of this year and he has been coming to practices, team events, and games. We wanted him to feel like part of the team and signing day was a great way to do that. Angler is a great kid and everyone on the team loves having him around. He’s funny, witty, and very personable. We love having him on the sidelines for our home games. His presence lets us know we are playing for more than ourselves. I think it shows the attitude of our team; we want to give back to the community and show that everything we do, we do it with humility,  kindness, and passion. We are super excited to have Angler on our team for the next years to come!”

This is a very exciting initiative and partnership with TeamIMPACT that does amazing work all over the country. On behalf of The Sewanee Athletic, Angler, welcome to the 2024-25 team roster! Be sure to show your support for Angler and the Men’s Basketball program at their next home game which is January 17th versus Rhodes College at 8pm CT.
